School is about to begin!
It's almost time for school to begin!! We will be "back to the grind" this coming Tuesday! I am really looking forward to the upcoming year! During our PD this past week, we talked a lot about the Common Core and how Howell Schools will be transitioning from the state GLCEs to the Common Core standards. One of the ideas that we talked a lot about is how important it is for students to be a part of their learning and assessment. Our presenter showed some examples of ideas that other teachers have used to involve students in this way. I created a resource that I will be using in my classroom this year for all subjects and many different learning goals. I think this resource will really help students take a look at their progress and see how their efforts are helping accomplish their goals.
If you would like a copy of this resource, visit my Teachers pay Teachers store! :)

Fractions Dice Games
We have focused a lot on fractions this year! Our MEAP scores show that is an area that is quite tricky for our students, so we've been practicing a lot!! I created this printable to help my students compare and order fractions in a fun format using dice. We played this morning and they had a blast! Who says math can't be fun!? :)

Biography Posters
During the month of February, my students worked on researching and summarizing information about a famous person of their choice. They used their notes and information to create a Biography Poster. I was so impressed with their work! Here are a few examples:

Stars and Wishes
In my classroom we use the terms "stars" and "wishes" all the time! "Stars" are things we like and "wishes" are things we would like to improve upon. I created this exit slip for my students to easily evaluate where they stand on a particular subject. I would love to hear how you use exit slips like this one in your classroom! Click the image to grab this exit slip for FREE from my Teachers Pay Teacher's Store! :)

Little About Me :)
I love blogs! For several years I have maintained our 4th grade blog at school. This is a group effort, providing our parents with news and information in a quick way. I have secretly wanted to have my own teaching blog space, but I wasn't sure how to go about separating myself. SO I created my own blog, too...and you're reading my second official post right now! I have been visiting Fourth Grade Frolics often (found her on Pinterest) and have been inspired to start blogging about our classroom and my teaching life, as she does.
You see, I'm not new to blogging really. I have my own little side scrapbooking business Stamp*Crop*Create and have been blogging and posting artwork there for about five years. I also have a family blog to keep our family in the loop. And now it's time for me to blog about my teaching. Because...why not? :)
